Autumn theme decorated plaque

I have made this plaque for the Autumn Calling Challenge for September 2020 on the Gecko Galz Blog. I am also entering the Celebrate Autumn/Fall Challenge 2020 and the Colour Shades of Autumn Challenge 2020 on the Gecko Galz Papercrafting Challenge Group on Facebook

To start I used a 6 x 6 inch square MDF plaque. The digital image is from the Gecko Galz on Etsy. I sized the image to fit in the centre of the plaque on my computer and then printed the image out onto photo paper.

Then I painted the plaque with white gesso to give a good base to work with. I used a scroll stencil and laid it onto the plaque that I had to do in stages as the stencil was smaller than the plaque and then I added texture paste over the stencil, then gently lifting off the stencil that left a raised design on the plaque. I made sure that I had left enough space in the middle of the plaque for the image and the wooden frame, then I put the plaque on one side to dry.

When the plaque was dry I painted over the raised embossed background with light brown and green acrylic paint in different areas of the plaque, when dry I went over the whole of the background with gold gilding paste and then I buffed with a paper towel to bring the shine out. For the image, I gave it a coat of Distress Glaze and when dry I adhered the image down to the centre of the plaque.

I made a frame out of bamboo skewers using three sticks for each of the four sections, then I painted them with brown acrylic paint leaving some of the natural wood showing. When dry I glued light brown twine in two places on each section and I tied a knot to make a rustic look. I then adhered each of the bamboo skewer sections down around the image to make a frame.

For the white fabric leaves, I coloured them with orange and light green acrylic paint and then I used the Vintage Photo Distress Oxide ink pad and a sponge to add colour. I used a punch and cut the flower shapes out of white card stock. To get the colours that I wanted for the flowers I used two colours of Distress Oxide dabbed onto a glass mat and lightly sprayed with water, then I dabbed the card stock into that mixture and dried that with a craft heat gun.

For the base of the image I added sisal to decorate. I then adhered the leaves around the frame and arranged the flowers using the two different sizes to add more decoration. I then adhered orange gems to the centre of each flower. To finish I coloured around all four edges of the plaque with gold gilding paste and then I adhered a brown piece of card to the back of the plaque so that it would look nice from the front and the back
